Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned to not play a part in Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Poll Suggests The Public Do Not Want Prince Harry And Meghan Markle To Attend Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee
That is according to a major poll measuring public opinion. The celebration will be held to mark the Queen’s 70th year in charge, which is understandably a major milestone.
But given that Harry and Meghan have a poor relationship with the Royals, public opinion suggests that their appearance could create more disharmony than unity.
According to a poll conducted by the Sunday Express, “42 per cent – do not want to see the couple feature in any of the festivities marking the Monarch’s reign.”
While “less than a third (30 per cent) believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should take part in the celebrations.” Despite what the poll has had to say, it is not as simple as that for the following reasons.
First of all, by not attending, Harry and Meghan could equally be accused of disrespecting the monarch given that they were absent on such a historic occasion.
In this way, their absence could be seen as a failure to offer an olive branch in light of the poor relations. Secondly, their absence would also suggest that the chances of their children mixing with the other members of the Royal family are very slim.
That would inadvertently punish the children involved, who have done nothing to warrant such a thing. Nevertheless, Harry may not be left with a choice depending on the outcome of his security issue saga.
He has made it abundantly clear that he no longer feels it safe to come to the UK unless he is allowed to fund his own security.
Although he was initially denied the chance to do this, he has taken on legal advice in the hope that this decision can be overturned. After all, Harry is no stranger to having his own security given that he does this overseas.
There is still plenty of time before the celebrations go ahead, and who knows what could happen in that time. We will have to see if Harry and Meghan do make a trip to the UK.
