BULLET CLUB is in a bad spot right now, after Jay White drew a line in the sand when he kicked Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa out of the group. Now, Chase Owens will battle Jado – our first interfactional match of the 2022 New Japan Cup. Jado has long been the manager of Guerrillas of Destiny – which puts his role in BULLET CLUB at question.
Chase Owens Shows No Mercy Against Jado
Owens would not accept the handshake of Jado, instead hitting a C-Trigger to the face. Jado would take a trip to the Tongan Massage Parlour from the honorary tongan, before some lazy knee strikes to the back of the head.
Owens would be dropped with a lariat before Jado would manage to hit Green Killer – getting a near fall. It would be a major upset if Jado won here, having not won a singles match since 2014. Jewel Heist would land and Owens looked for the Package Piledriver, but Jado was able to block into the crossface.
Jado would get Owens to tap out… but not before he threw the referee aside. The tap out just got Jado to release the hold, before Owens nailed a low blow and a C-Trigger ended this one. After the bell, he’d help Jado out of the ring,
EVIL Has Historically Had Issues Disarming The Funky Weapon
EVIL has had two very good New Japan Cups in a row, having won in 2020 and made the semi-finals in 2021. However, even with that history and while coming into the tournament as the NEVER Openweight Champion, he can’t overlook Ryusuke Taguchi.
Taguchi might be a Junior Heavyweight with a love of comedy wrestling, but he’s a crafty in-ring veteran, and can submit anyone with his ankle lock. Add in that EVIL has always had issues with Taguchi ever since their Young Lion days – and this one is hard to call.
Taguchi would play some mind games, wearing entrance gear that looked very close to how EVIL presented himself when he was still part of L.I.J. Dick Togo would accompany EVIL to the ring – which will certainly come to play in this one.
Taguchi would rush into the ring and nearly take the EVIL STO, before going for one of his own and getting countered. EVIL would dodge the flying hip attack from Taguchi, and was sent outside. Lining up Taguchi with the time keepers table – EVIL would cause as much damage as possible as he drove Taguchi into the barricade.
Back in the ring, EVIL would choke Taguchi with a t-shirt before getting a two count. Taguchi would fire up before having his eyes raked – before blocking a spinning lariat with a gut punch. EVIL would shove the referee aside to go for a low blow, only to take a straight right hand to the groin.
Dick Togo was taken into the ring, and Taguchi would nail some B-Triggers, before the Springboard Hip Attack for the two count. Three amigos would be successful, before Taguchi popped up to his feet and looked for Boma-Ye. EVIL blocked and wanted the STO, but was countered into a roll up and hip attack.
The ankle lock would be applied, and EVIL would be trapped in the middle of the ring. Togo would rush the ring but get in the ankle lock instead, but EVIL was able to get free and hit the STO for the win.
