Next weeks episode of AEW Dark will have a special guest commentator on hand. They have done this in the past with people like Taz & Vickie Guerrrero, but next up is a recent ROH exit. This is Colt Cabana, a man who is no stranger to being behind the desk at a wrestling show.
Colt Cabana on Commentary
Colt Cabana served as one of the main commentators for Ring Of Honor during his most recent tenure there, and his chemistry with Ian Riccaboni was a highlight of many shows. He did this while also being an active wrestler for the company, and even was in charge of booking for one night only. Him booking resulted in the first ever match in which one half of a tag team is in the ring, the other is on commentary, and the commentator needs to take a shot of alcohol whenever there was a near fall in the match. He is clearly a wrestling genius.
Could Colt Cabana get involved in ring with All Elite Wrestling?
Anything is possible, and Colt Cabana is a highly respected figure in wrestling. He was a trailblazer on merchandising and podcasting, two things incredibly vital to modern wrestling. He had a big hand in the success of ProWrestlingTees.com, which The Young Bucks in partiuclar really benefit from. This is ignoring him being one of the most savvy in ring competitors around today, with his technical skill second to none, but often hidden behind a veil of comedy antics. He is able to excite just about any crowd, and don’t lie and say Colt Cabana vs. Orange Cassidy wouldn’t be match of the decade if done on national TV.
Whatever the future holds for Colt Cabana in AEW, it’ll be nice to see him involved in any capicity. He might have left Ring Of Honor, but he remains a fixture of NWA & had major involvement in a recent NJPW tour teaming with Toru Yano, so he won’t be short on work.
