Tonight, WWE SmackDown went down and at the end of the night, they somewhat clumsily dropped a major match onto us, one that will presumably headline the final SmackDown the year next week.
The show opened with Daniel Bryan, The Miz and King Corbin all making a case for going after Bray Wyatt, challenging for the WWE Universal Championship. Bryan wants another shot at the Fiend after he ripped the hair off his head, mad that his daughter didn’t recognize him. The Miz of course still wants revenge from Bray’s tormenting of his family, saying that the Universal title is the only thing that Bray cares about and thus he wants to take it from him. King Corbin meanwhile believes that he has the best to No. 1 Contendership after defeating Roman Reigns at TLC.
Later on in the night, Miz and Bryan met King Corbin and his henchman Dolph Ziggler in a tag team match. The match ended when The Miz made his old rival Dolph tap out to the Figure Four Leglock. Immediately, haphazardly afterwards, an announcement was made.
Daniel Bryan, The Miz & King Corbin will meet in a triple threat match next week.
This match will go down on the last Friday Night SmackDown of the year and the winner of this bout will go on to face Bray Wyatt for the WWE Universal Championship at the 2020 Royal Rumble event next month.
Miz has already had his match with Bray and couldn’t even defeat the regular kid’s show host in a non-title match in which Bray wasn’t even really fighting back for most of it, so it seems unlikely to me that he’s gonna be challenging the Fiend.
King Corbin seems somewhat unlikely too being a heel, but Bray and the Fiend are always cheered uproariously so it really wouldn’t be hard at all to just let him be a defacto face for a night against the King himself.
Daniel Bryan however has to be looked at as the favorite, being Bray’s main rival of the past couple of months.
