After being the one pinned in last week’s Triple Threat match, Tommaso Ciampa has some thinking to do about where he stands in WWE NXT. He was beaten by Dolph Ziggler twice now, and failed to defend the honor of his brand. Tonight, Ciampa promised to give fans a major update on his career.
Tommaso Ciampa Doesn’t Know What Comes Next
Ciampa wanted to take a moment tonight to talk about gratitude. Sometimes he still takes a moment to take in that this is actually his life. Professional wrestling doesn’t work for everyone, but Ciampa has been able to make it work for 17 years.
While he was on the indies, Ciampa wanted a place to call home… and NXT became that home. He was able to get into the largest professional wrestling company on the planet. Success didn’t come right away, Ciampa worked his ass off to become the heart of NXT.
Since 2015, Ciampa has gone from D.I.Y to becoming a two time NXT Champion. Ciampa never had to do it himself, as NXT fans were always there to back him up. Together, they proved Ciampa can be the guy – someone that can carry a brand.
Fans started a ‘Please don’t go’ chant, and Ciampa doesn’t know where to go. Ciampa has been wondering for months about what his Fairytale Ending is. Going into NXT: Stand & Deliver as NXT Champion was going to be that, but last week he blew that.
Ciampa doesn’t know what’s next, but he didn’t want to miss his chance to thank the NXT fans. Suddenly, Tony D’Angelo would hit the ring with a crowbar – but he didn’t hit Ciampa behind his back. That’s because D’Angelo respects Ciampa.
He knows beating Ciampa would make him the man in NXT, and it’d be an honour to face a legend of the brand at Stand & Deliver. Handshake was offered, before D’Angelo hit a knee south of the border – and gave Ciampa the kiss of death.
Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta Clash In The Ring
Duke Hudson is looking to spice things up in the WWE NXT 2.0 locker room, and breaking up the best friend duo of Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta. By bringing up a past relationship with Hartwell, he drove a wedge between Hartwell and her husband Dexter Lumis – but it got Hartwell & Perotta questioning everything they knew about each other. Now, they will meet in singles action – and have a chance to sort out their issues in the ring.
They’d walk to the ring together like usual, but not for a tag team match. Indi would get dropped with a side kick from Pirotta, before dropping her face first onto the turnbuckle. Pirotta would take a lariat into the bulldog.
Hudson would hit the ringside area, but Lumis would run the distraction. Pirotta was shocked, and Indi took advantage with a roll up for the win. After the match, Lumis & Hartwell would stare down Pirotta & Hudson… before having a kiss off in the ring. It’d end with two couples making out on the mat.
