Randy Orton to Set WWE WrestleMania Record

When it comes to WrestleMania, there are so many memories and records that’s it’s hard to keep track of them all with The Streak being the most well known, and even most controversial yet.

This year at WrestleMania 38, Randy Orton is set to make a WrestleMania record, and like most of his other records, it’s a quiet one we may not hear much about.

The record we hear most often attributed to Orton is his chase to top Ric Flair’s world title number before he retires, but there’s always something more.

The record is simply that Orton will be the first wrestler to ever walk into WrestleMania as a tag team champion, a WWE Champion, a United States Champion, a Intercontinental Champion, and a World Heavyweight Champion (the WWE Championship replaced this).

Orton’s been a consistent performer for years and he’s been a fan favorite as a heel or face without having to reinvent himself as often as we’d expect he had to.

If he did, it was generally something subtle like slipping into Legend Killer mode that’s not a far cry from his usual self.

    Setting records

It’s always fun to see someone’s accomplishments in a way that’s not just telling, so here we go.

At WrestleMania 20 he appeared as Intercontinental Champion.

WrestleMania 25 he was the WWE Champion and faced Trible H.

WrestleMania 30 saw him lost the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship to Danial Bryan in a Triple Threat match that included Batista.

At WrestleMania 34, Orton defended the United States Championship against Jinder Mahal, Robert Roode, and Rusev.

There’s no doubt that Orton’s achievements will land him in the WWE Hall of Fame before it’s all said and done. They’re all a testament to him being able to maintain a high level and keep his career moving.

His consistency had allowed him to have a long career as he isn’t a high flyer, so his risk of injury is slightly less but the main reason is his presence.

He knows how to work the crowd and can switch from face to heel, and back to face in the same promo with a simple expression or a change in his voice inflection.

The rate he’s going, it’s possible he’ll own most of the records in the WWE, and since he intends to wrestle until he’s 50 there will be plenty of opportunities for him to achieve those and all of his goals.
