Since her return to Impact Wrestling in 2020, Deonna Purrazzo has established herself as one of the top wrestlers in the world as she was a dominate Knockouts Champion and is currently dual champion with the ROH Women’s title and AAA Reina de Reinas title.
Since winning both titles, she’s held a regular Champ Champ Challenge were she’d accept a challenge from anyone and they could choose which title to go for.
Her stock has risen as it’s impossible to ignore a talent like her, and Tony Kahn is reportedly interested in signing her to AEW at some point.
That’s mainly speculation, but on the Strong Style Youtube show he said he’s talking with her but that could be more to do with the ROH Women’s Championship than anything.
Possible double duty
At WrestleCon, Deonna will hold another Champ Champ Challenge at Impact Wrestling: Multiverse of Matches, and her opponent could be anyone.
But it’s also brought some added attention as ROH is holding their Supercard of Honor pay-per-view during the weekend that is better known as WrestleMania weekend.
The possibility of Deonna wrestling twice is a possibility, and Tony Kahn talked about that. He also pointed out that he didn’t have a say in the ROH women’s title as it was made before he bought the company.
Special thanks to Wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.
“When Deonna won the Ring of Honor title, when they booked that match, I did not have an agreement in place to buy Ring of Honor yet and was not booking the matches. With them having a show the night of our pay-per-view, I don’t know how it’s going to work out. Scott [D’Amore] and I are still talking about that because I completely respect their position that they have an event that night too.”
This doesn’t mean they haven’t come to terms on a deal or that Deonna won’t defend the ROH women’s title, but it looks more like it’ll be a surprise match if it happens.
Could AEW be Deonna’s new home?
There’s every chance that Kahn could sign Deonna once her Impact Wrestling contract ends as she did reportedly show interest in AEW before signing with AEW.
It’d be great for her as there’s every chance she could earn more, but given AEW’s bloated roster it may not work our well for her wrestling wise, but that’s something they could work out then.
