Wheeler Yuta has essentially made his career over the past week. An instant classic against Bryan Danielson on AEW Dynamite opened the eyes of fans. He would claim gold by defeating Josh Woods at ROH Supercard of Honor, becoming the new Pure Rules Champion.
These matches impressed Danielson & William Regal respectively, but there remains one member of Blackpool Combat Club that needs convincing for Yuta to join – and tonight The Decoder has a chance to prove his toughness to Moxley as they clash on Rampage.
How Does One Decode A Mad Man?
Before Moxley even hit the ring, Yuta would soar onto him before whipping him into the steel steps. They’d brawl off into the crowd, where Yuta would nail chops and clubbing blows. Yuta was beating Moxley at his own game, but finally into the ring – Moxley would get some ground with a German Suplex.
A simple but effective vertical suplex would follow, before some heavy chops in the corner. Yuta would match that aggression, before being dropped with a high boot. Moxley was caught with the Manhattan Drop – before dumping Yuta out onto the apron face first. Yuta would have his face stomped onto the steel steps – and was busted wide open.
Back into the ring, Moxley would tear at the open wound – looking for even more blood before nailing some chops. Yuta hit a chop before collapsing. Moxley would be wiping the blood of Yuta on his torso, as he stalked him with some measured strikes. Yuta would send Moxley into the steel steps on the outside.
Back in the ring, Yuta wanted the diving crossbody – but was caught into a superplex. Straightjacket would be applied, but Yuta would block. Texas Cloverleaf would be applied, and a bloody Yuta would manage to get the bottom rope.
Jon Moxley Now Respects Wheeler Yuta
Moxley was sent to the floor and took support on the timekeepers table – before Yuta dove onto him and crashed him through the table. On commentary, Taz would imply that Yuta will need about 1 stitches to get fixed, but I digress. Into the ring, Yuta would rush into a backslide before nailing a deadlift German Suplex.
King Kong Lariat was blocked into the inverted angle slam from Yuta. He’d proceed to stomp the head of Moxley in, before hitting a flying splash across the ring. Moxley was taken into a crossface as he kicked out, but was able to block into a pinfall.
King Kong Lariat would land, but Yuta was able to kick out. Moxley would bite the open wound, before nailing Paradigm Shift – and Yuta still kicked out to a massive pop from the crowd. With 5000 fans chanting his name, Yuta would be taken into the Bulldog Choke, and would refuse to tap out.
Moxley would hit some driving knee strikes, before Yuta suckered Moxley in for a roll up before applying the Bulldog Chokes. A primal yell from Yuta would ring out in the arena, before he’d apply the Rear Naked Choke. Moxley rolled through and hit the Hammer & Anvil elbows – before the Regal Knee and elevated Paradigm Shift still was not enough. Chokehold was applied, and Yuta went to sleep.
Regal & Danielson would come to the ring, and Yuta would pull himself to his knees. He’d welcome whatever came next, but that would be a handshake from William Regal. It appears that Blackpool Combat Club has a fourth member now.
