WWE put themselves in a hard situation recently, as they were faced with abuse allegations towards one half of the new NXT Tag Team Champions. MSK had claimed the belts from Imperium during Wrestlemania weekend – only for Nash Carter to be released after showing up as champion once. Wes Lee remains with the company, but the belts would end up vacant and with an unsure future.
Gauntlet Match To Come For The Vacant NXT Tag Team Championships
The future of the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships were made clear by WWE themselves following the release of Nash Carter. Instead of running a tournament, we will see a five team gauntlet match to name new champions tomorrow night on WWE NXT. The following would be posted on WWE.com.
“After being relinquished, the last team standing will be crowned the new NXT Tag Team Champions.
On Tuesday, five of NXT 2.0’s top tag teams, including Grayson Waller & Sanga, Legado del Fantasma, The Creed Brothers, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, and Pretty Deadly, will collide in a Gauntlet Match to determine the new NXT Tag Team Champions.”
A Gold Filled Night For NXT 2.0
This match joins two more major title matches coming on NXT 2.0. Cameron Grimes is set to defend his newly won NXT North American Championship against Solo Sikoa. Sikoa is a member of the Anoa’i wrestling family, and is related to The Usos & Roman Reigns. Grimes has been one of the best in NXT for a while now, and has a chance to prove he’s legit as champion.
Mandy Rose will also defend the NXT Women’s Championship once again, this time taking on Dakota Kai in singles action. Rose alongside Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne recently took the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships off Kai & Gonzalez, and now has perhaps her toughest challenge yet. Rose has made three successful defenses as NXT Women’s champion, last defeating Kay Lee Ray, Io Shirai & Cora Jade at Stand & Deliver.
