Natalya is back in NXT – and has a lot of first time challengers stepping up. After making her first appearance on NXT since 2015, interrupting Cora Jade to tell her she was the future before proclaiming the future was bleak and slapping the up-and-comer into a Sharpshooter – Tatum Paxley would step up to Natalya for a match. Tonight, Paxley has the biggest match of her young career – and a win could change her life.
Natalya Proves Why She’s A Legend
With less than a year’s experience in her boots, Paxley was an instant underdog in this match. A tight side headlock was applied, and when Paxley thought she had a counter – Natalya broke free in seconds. Paxley would get a side headlock, and Natalya slipped right out.
Moving to the outside, Natalya would nail a lariat and a snap suplex. Back in the ring, Paxley would try to step up and hit a suplex of her own. Natalya was rocked and Paxley hit a standing twisting senton for a two count. However, a sharpshooter would be applied – and Paxley had no choice but to tap out.
After her match, an interview would be crashed – and Nikitta Lyons wants the next shot at Natalya. We will see that match next week!
Wes Lee Has Not Wrestled Any Singles Matches In WWE
Wes Lee has been a bit wayward since his tag team partner got released. Having come into NXT as a tag team and been in a tag team since 2016, Lee has no singles record to fall back on – but tonight that changes. With just 41 singles matches over his career, Lee has focused on quality over quantity.
He’s faced the likes of Taiji Ishimori, Will Ospreay, Matt Sydal and more. Tonight, he wrestles his first singles match in WWE – since Xyon Quinn challenged him to a match earlier tonight. Now Wes Lee will enter the one place where he has no doubts – a WWE ring.
Lee would start off hot with a flipping kick to the face – sending Quinn out of the ring. Quinn tried to slip back in and catch him off guard – before being nailed with a dropkick. A dive to the floor would see Quinn respond with a backdrop right onto the apron. Back in the ring, he’d be a brick wall as Lee ran into him.
Quinn was standing strong, and pulled Lee up onto his shoulders for an attempt at Death Valley Driver. Lee slipped free – before being launched into the air with a flapjack. The big forearm smash was blocked and Lee hit a superkick before cutting him down with strikes. Quinn found his footing and nailed a massive forearm smash for the victory.
Roxanne Perez Makes Her NXT 2.0 Debut
Next week, we were supposed to see Roxanne Perez make her NXT debut. The former ROH Women’s World Champion has a lot of hype behind her, and Toxic Attraction wants to find out if it’s warranted. Things can change in a blink in WWE, and now Roxanne is facing one half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions in Jacy Jayne.
Roxanne would start off hot with an overhand chop before looking for a pin. Jayne would look for some pinning predicaments herself – but neither lady would stay down longer than a two. Roxanne would hit some arm drags, before Jayne was able to nail a superkick.
Wendy Choo would come up on the screen and revealed that she tore up the Toxic Lounge – and this distraction allowed for the Code Red for the finish! Roxanne has started her NXT 2.0 career off in a huge way!
