Santos Escobar had some choice words for Carmelo Hayes following Hayes’ claims of elevating the NXT North American Championship last Tuesday. He called him unworthy of ever being called a champion, and after losing at Stand & Deliver – is at the back of the line. Tonight, Hayes will look to prove to Escobar that he’s no slouch in the ring, and will give the leader of Legado Del Fantasma hell tonight.
Wes Lee Has Been Wayward Since Stand & Deliver
Before this match we’d catch up with Wes Less. He’s felt a bit lost after Stand & Deliver – with his tag team partner released. There’s a lot of doubts clouding his head, on what his next moves in the company would be.
Xyon Quinn would interrupt a backstage interview – and offered to teach him a lesson tonight in the ring. No matter how many doubts Wes Less has – he’s always at home in the ring.
Santos Escobar & Carmelo Hayes Put On A Classic
Escobar would be able to lock up fast with Hayes, before having to release after a rope break. Both men were seemingly evenly matched tonight – but Hayes would get an advantage with a kick to the midsection. They’d trade shoulder tackles, before Escobar would nail a tight dropkick to the jaw.
Escobar would slip to the apron and hit the gamiguri – before Trick Williams would trip him up. Hayes took advantage with a big springboard forearm off the ropes. A big DDT from Hayes would follow, putting Escobar down as we went into a picture-in-picture break.
Throughout, Escobar would try and get back into the fight – and was able to send Hayes into the ring post. A big lariat would follow, before a massive backbreaker. Hayes would be able to get Escobar down and into a single leg crab – and held on after the rope break knowing he had until five.
Tony D’Angelo Sends His Regards
Escobar would hit a Fisherman Suplex for a near fall – but Hayes would seek to keep his foot on the gas. A massive vertical suplex was set – and Escobar made Hayes think about it before driving him down. Both men struggled to their feet – before slugging it out in the middle of the ring.
Escobar would hit a set of downward punches to the face of Hayes in the corner, before a set of lariats, running knees and forearms. Hayes was sent to the floor and Escobar followed with the Arrow From The Depths of Hell.
Two goons sent by Tony D’Angelo would attack Escobar with a crowbar as Hayes ran a distraction. In the ring, Escobar would be nailed with the diving leg drop for the win. Escobar has been having issues with the new ‘don of NXT’ lately, and after this they might be at a fever pitch.
In two weeks, Carmelo Hayes intends to become a two time North American Champion. Cameron Grimes would gladly accept this challenge – but Solo Sikoa is also looking for another shot – and beat down both Trick & ‘Melo. We could be on route to a triple threat.
