The number of people wanting an end to the Royal family has increased of late.
New Poll Shows More People Want The Royal Family Gone-‘Time To Vote This Crap Out’
That is according to a poll conducted by YouGov. The timing of the poll could not have come at a worse time. With Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee set to take place this year, that would mark what would be her 70th year in charge, any hopes of it being a celebratory occasion have now been called into question.
Not only that, but following Prince Andrew’s sexual assault allegations, the Royal family has seemingly failed to recover from its increasing negative image.
According to the poll, 27 percent of people wanted to have the monarchy abolished. In addition,13 percent of people did not know how to respond to that question, suggesting an indifference towards the Royal family.
Meanwhile, 60 percent were in favour of keeping the Royal family. Although it could be argued that there is still a majority that favour the continuation of the monarchy, the number of people wanting it abolished has increased.
In comparison to a similar poll in 2019, only 19 percent wanted to scrap the monarchy. If these findings are taken to be true, then it is very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, how will the public respond when Queen Elizabeth is no longer the head of state? After all, her health is not exactly in a good place coupled with the fact that she is not getting any younger.
Moreover, the next person in line to the throne Prince Charles is not very popular with the public, as a result of his affair with Duchess Camilla during his marriage to Princess Diana.
The response on social media was quite hostile towards the Royal family. People were of the view that they needed to go. One person wrote: “Time to vote this crap out.”
