Mike Tyson is amazed by the skills Dmitry Bivol displayed when he beat Canelo Alvarez. It is most certainly a much-unexpected finish to the light heavyweight bout that took place this Saturday, May 7th in the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
They say the strongest thing that one person can own is will and determination. If you have these both nothing can stand in your way to your goal. This is proven by this fight.
Mike Tyson Amazed By The Skills Of Dmitry Bivol After His Fight Against Canelo Alvarez
However, the people who felt like Bivol will win the bout were his family, friends, and fellow comrades. Nobody else expects such a win by the underdog. Nevertheless, Bivol did not care for anything and anyone. He is sure of his capabilities and will not stop for anyone or anything. He has one goal in his mind. And that goal is to win the fight.
Bivol has shown very interesting tactics throughout the whole fight. His plan is to switch styles and mix up attacks to confuse and frustrate his opponent. And he does exactly that. He did beat Alvarez by a unanimous decision and obtains the title of a WBA light heavyweight champion.
On the other side, Alvarez hasn’t lost a fight since 2013 when he fought Floyd Mayweather. However, he enters the ring as confident as he can be. He underestimates his opponent and loses a fight after 9 years of winning. I guess that’s what happens when you are in reign for a long time. You are getting more relaxed and overestimate your abilities and your level of readiness.
“I prove myself today that I’m the best. Thank you Eddie Hearn. Moreover, sorry I broke your plans with Gennadiy Golovkin”. – After the fight, Bivol made a statement to DAZN in his post-fight interview.
Bivol’s current professional record is advanced to 20-0-0 making him an undisputed champion. Nevertheless, the critics are considering him even the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He remains strong during all rounds and shows that he has tremendous durability. So good, actually, that he looked much fresher than his opponent in the end. What do you think was Canelo Alvarez’s mistake?
“I felt his power. As you can see from my arm, he beat my arm up but not my head. It’s better. He had good speed and power. Maybe his mistake was he threw only hard punches. But, after hard punches, he relaxes. He is feeling exhaustion and I am feeling great. This is the biggest fight of my career and I enjoy this fight. When the people booed me, it gave me more energy.” – the new champion states.
This fight is followed closely by one very important person. Tyson himself sits in the first rows and is totally amazed by the Russian’s skills.
“Whenever you go in a ring and you’re not feeling fear, it’s time to give it up.” – Tyson wrote after the fight. And he is most probably right.
