Imagine receiving several blows to the head from the greatest boxer of all time – all this on an airplane. Not many of us would want that to happen. However, there are some people, who welcome this and ask for it. Well, be careful what you wish. It might get true.
The past week, exactly this happened. An evidently intoxicated passenger, named Melvin Townsend, went behind Tyson’s seat and started provoking the retired boxer. He was aware of what will this lead to. To begin with, he started talking jibberish behind his ears and got on the boxer’s nerves. Secondly, to fill the patience glass over the top, the passenger took a water bottle and threw it at Tyson. This led to Tyson losing it, facing him, and unloading punches on him.

Joe Rogan explained this as beehive head-butting. “It’s real simple, that dude was a douchebag. He was annoying one of the baddest motherfuckers that’s ever walked the face of the Earth.” – Rogan said on a recent episode of his podcast.
“That’s so dumb! It’s not even kicking a beehive. It’s like smashing – it’s headbutting a beehive.” According to the podcaster, the annoying passenger initially got what he asked for. It is known that – you play with fire, you get burnt.
“If you find yourself where Mike Tyson’s reaching over the back of an airline seat and punching you in the face, I think you probably earned it. People get crazy. They think just because he’s Mike Tyson, he’s famous, he can’t just punch you. You’re annoying him! He’s gonna just fucking hit you as a normal person would.”
Taking into consideration that Iron Mike is not the same person that he was 20 years ago, the dude must have done something extremely idiotic for him to act like this.
For instance, the person harassing Tyson was just an overexcited fan. An overexcited fan who got a bloody face and broken nose after meeting his idol.
Tyson’s representatives said that the passenger was getting too much aggressive and was harassing the 55-year-old boxer. However, was this a reason for him to unload on the fan’s head? Not really. A public figure and a famous celebrity like Mike Tyson should know better. As one of the greatest boxers of all time, Tyson should have had a greater restraint before using his fists on an overly excited fan, or overly excited douschebag like this.
Tyson said he is sorry for this scandal. And that he lost control and it should have not happened. However, as soon as he got off the plane he was caught speaking on the phone with someone and laughing. Was he speaking with someone and bragging about this charade? Whatever it was, it left yet another stain in the boxer’s career.
