During the month of April, it seemed like NJPW was about to lose one of their wrestlers. Juice Robinson would state that when his current NJPW deal was done, that was it. He was moving on from professional wrestling, with the Chicago Street Fight at Windy City Riot set to be the final match of his career.

This was all a lie, as he would swerve the fans – and attacked Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestling Dontaku, joining BULLET CLUB in the process. Now, he’s set to battle for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Capitol Collision, which will kick off another year for him on the NJPW roster.

Juice Robinson Is Sticking With NJPW, Plans On Being The #2 Guy In BULLET CLUB

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Juice Robinson would let everyone know he has officially signed a new contract with NJPW – and will be with the company through 2023. Robinson had the following to say about his new deal with the company.

“If I was going to stay with New Japan, I needed to do it my way. That’s what you’re going to see. That’s what you’re going to hear. I now have the license to do this the way I want. I’m keeping the details private, but I’m here where I am supposed to be. I don’t want to work somewhere else. I was about to, and I was ready to, but I didn’t want to. New Japan is where I belong.”

He would also say that joining BULLET CLUB was not a hard choice – as he goes way back with Jay White. Robinson had the following to say about BULLET CLUB.

“What we do works best when it’s real, and there’s been a relationship between me and Jay since we were in the New Japan dojo. Jay can be the leader of Bullet Club. I’m fine with that. But remember, Michael Jordan doesn’t win six titles without Scottie Pippen. Bullet Club has been talked about a hell of a lot more since I joined. So I’ll be the No. 2. I’ll be Pippen. They were a legendary one-two punch. Think of what me and Jay can do in tags, and I’m excited about the eight-man tags we can have with The Good Brothers. Bullet Club just got a whole lot better.”

A Fresh Coat Of Pain On A Talented Performer

So while he is with NJPW, the Juice Robinson fans came to love as a plucky underdog is gone. He’s going to be doing things differently, and joining BULLET CLUB could be the way to refresh his career. Beyond two short reigns as IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, Robinson is a former World Tag League winner, and a former IWGP Tag Team Champion.

We can expect him to find more success over the course of the next year, which will likely see him once again join the field of the G1 Climax. Do you think Robinson made the right call joining BULLET CLUB? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
