Recently in AEW, fans finally got something they were waiting for. Wardlow would turn on MJF during the Revolution PPV, and since then – has been working to get out of his contract with MJF. He will get that chance at Double or Nothing, but has some challenges to get through first. Wardlow will take ten lashes of a belt next week on AEW Dynamite, and the following week meets Shawn Spears in a steel cage match. Shawn Spears had been alongside Wardlow for months, and feels he was the one who made Wardlow into a star.
Shawn Spears Was Alongside Wardlow As He Became A Star
Ahead of their steel cage match, Shawn Spears would take a moment to sit down on Busted Open Radio. He’d give his thoughts on the rise of Wardlow, and why really – it was Shawn Spears who made him a star.
“Here’s my problem. Okay. In the midst of Max feuding with CM Punk, arguably the biggest feud of the year, arguably the biggest feud of the past five years, there was an underbelly story taking place, and that was with Wardlow and myself. That guy went on a tear. That guy started to get very over, the crowd started responding to Wardlow in the most positive way possible.
Why do you think that is? If you look at the common denominator, I was by his side, every single second that that was taking place. I was the guy in his ear giving him the advice. One thing Wardlow lacks is experience. The guy is talented, the guy is big, the guy is strong, the guy checks almost every single box in this industry, except one, and they can help right now it’s not his fault. He doesn’t have the experience that I have.”
Earlier tonight on AEW Rampage, Shawn Spears shocked many fans by getting the 300+lb Bear Boulder onto his shoulders for the C4 Driver. He will be looking to slay another giant, as he faces Wardlow in two weeks.
