Wardlow is very close to getting his hands on MJF this weekend at Double Or Nothing, but has one last hurdle. He needs to survive perhaps the most one sided steel cage match in AEW history. He faces ‘The Chairman’ Shawn Spears, with MJF as the special guest referee, and has nowhere to run when the chair shots begin. Also, if he lays a hand on MJF during this match – his contract will be put on ice. Can Wardlow make it through Spears?
A Handcuffed Handicap Match Goes Wrong For MJF & Shawn Spears
MJF would fail to find the key to the handcuffs, before calling for the bell. Spears would get some boots in on Wardlow, before MJF called him away – getting some cheap shots in himself. Spears would strike him down, before taking a back elbow – but MJF would rake the eyes.
Wardlow hit a backdrop, before MJF spat in his face. He’d break the handcuffs himself, before tossing Spears into the steel of the ring. Spears hit a hotshot on the ropes, before trying to climb the cage. Wardlow would catch him before hitting a Swanton Bomb, but MJF refused to count the pinfall.
He’d look for a powerbomb, but took the low blow from MJF and a C4 from Spears. Even with a fast count, Wardlow kicked out. Spears would go grab a steel chair from outside of the ring, but he’d catch MJF instead of Wardlow after a dodge.
MJF was seeing stars, a new official hit the ring – and Wardlow would all but powerbomb Spears through the ring on four different occasions. One more on the steel chair would follow, and Wardlow gets his match with MJF. Security would try to restrain Wardlow, but was destroyed in the cage.
Wardlow scaled the cage, and looked down at his next victim. Chants of Wardlow would echo throughout the arena, and when he faces MJF this week on AEW
Both Hangman Page & CM Punk Are Ready For Double Or Nothing 2022
This weekend at Double or Nothing 2022, CM Punk gets his chance to claim the the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. However tonight, he meets with Hangman Page face to face – and has one last chance to get into the head of the champion ahead of the PPV. Things have gotten personal over the past few weeks, and could well explode here tonight.
Crowds were split in chanting for both men, and Tony Schiavone would be in charge of keeping this one together. CM Punk would speak first, where he said the biggest match in his career as come at Las Vegas. He plans to walk in challenger, and walk out champion. Simple as that.
Page would say that Punk has nothing he can do to take this championship away from him. Punk would say that he knows Page is one of the toughest sons of a bitches to ever step into a ring, but it’s all business at Double or Nothing. Page has been thinking about how cathartic it would have been to mock Punk on the build to this match, but he can’t do it.
Not because he couldn’t drop a pipebomb on Punk, but because it would play into the hand of Punk. It’s not the right thing to do. Punk is stepping into Hangman Page’s house, and this Sunday – he will defend AEW from CM Punk.
Punk would remind Page that he paved the path that he walked to get here, the blueprints he followed were drafted up by Punk himself. All Punk wants is a handshake, but instead he got a punch to the face.
