The team of Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland have been building momentum in the AEW tag team division. Tonight they are looking to add another win to their record, as they face the Workhorsemen. JD Drake & Anthony Henry have yet to really find a footing in the AEW tag team division, but a shock win tonight would do a ton for them. Lee & Swerve cracked the Top 5 in the tag team division today as well, so could be on their way to facing Jurassic Express.
Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland Claim Tag Team Win – AEW World Tag Team Championship Match Determined For Double Or Nothing 2022
JD Drake would kick things off with a massive chop to the chest, only for Lee to come back twice as hard. Swerve would tag in alongside Henry, before smoothly moving into an armbar. Swerve would be able to hit a rolling flatliner, before Drake tried to hit a back suplex on Swerve.
He’d land on his feet, tag into Lee, who hit a slingshot crossbody. Henry would be lifted up by Lee, who alongside Swerve would hit the Fall From Glory for the dominant victory. After the match, Lee would get a microphone, and said that with that victory, they’re firmly in the Top 5 rankings.
Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks would interrupt them before they could challenge the champs. They’d claim they were next in line, but Jurassic Express would hit the ramp to decide who is really the next challenger. Christian Cage would decide that next week, Jungle Boy will wrestle both Keith Lee & Ricky Starks, and at Double or Nothing – both teams get a title shot!
Wardlow Doesn’t Register The Lashes Of The Belt
Wardlow finally gets his match with MJF at Double or Nothing, provided he survives the next two weeks. While next week, Wardlow faces Shawn Spears in a steel cage – tonight he takes ten lashes from a belt. This is the same fate Cody Rhodes once faced, but Wardlow intends to prove he’s built of tougher stuff than Rhodes – and that he’s ready to defeat MJF.
Wardlow took the first lash, and barely even registered it. The second one, same result. He’d pop his pecs, and MJF would hit four in a row. Wardlow didn’t show an inch of pain yet, despite the lashes being noticeable on his back. Shawn Spears took the belt for number eight, and Wardlow finally felt the pain on number nine.
MJF would hit a low blow before whipping him multiple times on the mat. He’d choke him with the belt, before punching him out with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Shawn Spears hit the C4, and MJF counted a pinfall – which could be how things go next week in the Steel Cage match.
