Since his injury at the hands of Happy Corbin, Madcap Moss has been off WWE TV, but last week he took to social media to say he’ll be back on June 3’s Smackdown.
On his social media accounts, he said, “You spit in the face of Andre’s legacy. You tried to end my career. But you didn’t – cuz Madcap is built different. Corbin, get ready to see a side of me you’ve never seen before
“No jokes. No cap. Next week on #SmackDown I’m coming to WHOOP YOUR ASS”.
This has led to some buzz as fans want to see what he’s going to do, but also longtime fans are curious as to how he’s going to return.

A gimmick change?
Longtime wrestling fans will recognize a injury storyline is typically used to give a wrestler a chance to heal from a real injury, take some time off, or change gimmicks for a come back.
The latter seems more likely in this scenario, and since he’s said he’s coming back with no jokes and a different side, it begs the question what kind of character will Madcap Moss be when he returns?
Obviously, it looks like he’s going to be darker and more focused on revenge than his previous persona. But the question is how dark?
It’s reasonable to assume he’ll stay close to the type of character he was with a twist, and that will most likely be a more aggressive version.
Since he’s a face, it doesn’t make sense for him to turn, but there is potential for him to take the anti-hero approach.
There have been reports from wrestlingnews.co that Moss is going to drop the comedy aspect of his character and get new gear and entrance music.
What it will be exactly is being kept under wraps to surprise us and that’s cool. It’s good to see a rebranded character come out without any expectations.
There could be another reason and that his character is still under development.
There have been reports that Moss’ new character hasn’t been signed off on yet by Vince McMahon, but we don’t see that being the case is he’s coming back so soon.
Of course, we could be wrong and Vince has okayed a working idea and they’re going to let Moss run with it.
