The Archbishop of Canterbury has been blasted after suggesting that Prince Andrew should be forgiven following his sex-abuse allegations.
Archbishop Of Canterbury Slammed After Calling For People To Forgive Prince Andrew-‘The Church Loves Paedos, Tell Me Something I Don’t Already Know’
Andrew was accused of this by Virginia Guiffre in a highly-publicised court scandal. Although Andrew denied doing anything of the sort, his credibility had been damaged in light of the evidence that had come to light.
He was pictured with Virgina, while his dealings with Jeffrey Epstein including a notorious photo of the two walking together in Central Park, New York, looked damning. And even though Andrew settled outside of court, his name has forever been tarnished.
And yet, the Archbishop felt it was time to move on. In his comments to ITV tonight, the Archbishop said: “At a big public occasion the Queen is fully entitled to have one of her children supporting her.
“Forgiveness really does matter. I think we have become a very, very unforgiving society.” Despite those comments, it is important to remember that Andrew has yet to admit that he had done any wrongdoing.
Therefore, it would be hard for the general public to forgive him due to the lack of remorse he had shown. Not only that, but by forgiving Andrew, it could send out the wrong message to the other victims who had not been given justice.
And yet, the Archbishop doubled down on his beliefs in light of Andrew’s apparent attempts to rehabilitate himself back into society.
He added: “Now with Prince Andrew, I think we all have to step back a bit. He’s seeking to make amends and I think that’s a very good thing.” The fans on social media were outraged by those comments.
And they did not hold back on the Archbishop’s tone-deaf remarks. One person wrote: “The church loves paedos. Tell me something I don’t already know.”
While another person stated: “Can one ‘make amends’, if one does not admit one’s guilt?” It is safe to say that there is not a lot of enthusiasm to see Andrew back in the public fold. So there you have it folks.
