One of the most polarizing on-screen acts within AEW right now is easily Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti. Since late 2021, this couple has been deeply involved with the TNT Championship picture. Only at Double or Nothing 2022 was Sammy Guevara locked away from challenging from the title, but this just gave them an excuse to go on vacation to France. While there, in sight of the Eiffel Tower – Sammy Guevara would seek to take their relationship to the next level, as he would propose of Tay Conti. She of course, said yes.
Tay Conti & Sammy Guevara Have Shown Genuine Love On AEW TV, Just Cranked Up To 11
While it’s not often something wrestling fans want to see on TV, the relationship and love between Conti & Guevara has looked nothing short of genuine from the start. We can only assume it’s the same behind the scenes, with AEW owner Tony Khan instructing them to turn things up to 11 on-screen. The result has been an incredible amount of heel heat from every single crowd they’ve been in-front of.
Even their tag team partner at Double or Nothing, Frankie Kazarian had a hard time working with them, even despite the stipulation also locking him out of challenging Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship. It even drove AEW fans to be on the side of Dan Lambert, something that no one ever expected to see on AEW programming. We will undoubtably see this engagement roll over onto AEW programming very soon, likely even as soon as tonight’s live episode of AEW Rampage. After all, who doesn’t love a big wedding on in a professional wrestling ring?
Fan Backlash Will Always Come In This Situations
There has been some fan backlash to this news, with many bringing up that Sammy Guevara had proposed to his girlfriend on AEW programming in 2020, before the couple broke up after eight years together. Social media has put the personal lives of professional wrestlers on full display a lot of the time, and it won’t always lead to good results.
