Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attempt to offer an olive branch to Prince William and Kate Middleton proved to be unsuccessful.
William And Kate Turned Down Harry And Meghan’s Invite To Lilibet’s Birthday-‘I Don’t Blame The Cambridge’s For Being Cautious’
The couple were on hand for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, which saw them appear in front of the British public for the first time since their exit from the Royal family in 2020.
And as part of that process, there was particular focus on the interaction between the couple and William and Kate.
So in an attempt to patch things up, Harry and Meghan had reportedly offered William and Kate an invite to attend their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday at Frogmore Cottage.
Sadly, though, that was knocked back. A source confirmed as much: “Things are still fraught — William is still wary of spending any time alone with Harry as you never quite know what may be reported back afterwards.”
Despite those comments, it is important to bear in mind the following factors. First of all, William and Kate were taking part in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Therefore, that was the first priority irrespective of what they thought about Harry and Meghan.
Secondly, in any event, the fact that William apparently refused to make eye contact with his brother doing the course of the ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ at St Paul’s Cathedral, it was clear to say that they did not see eye to eye.
And that was the sentiment being expressed on social media. A certain subset of people understood that William and Kate were wary due to the fact that the couple had spoken out against them since their exit.
Meanwhile, others were of the view that Harry and Meghan were looking to get some footage for their Netflix docuseries. One person wrote: “I don’t blame the Cambridge’s for being cautious.”
While another person stated: “Pretty sure at the end of this branch a Netflix microphone is fixed.” Will the brothers be able to put the bad blood behind them? Time will tell. So there you have it folks.
