Every year, NJPW holds the biggest tournament of the year in the summer – with the G1 Climax. Whoever wins gets to main event Tokyo Dome on January 4th. Now, we know the block for G1 Climax 32! It’s going to be a 28 man tournament this year, with four blocks. Seven men per block, mixing things up for this year.
28 Men Enter – Only Two Will Make The Finals
Kazuchika Okada, Tama Tonga, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tom Lawlor, JONAH, YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii, Jeff Cobb, Great-O-Khan, Will Ospreay, Aaron Henare, Shingo Takagi, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, Jay White, EVIL, KENTA, Yujiro Takahashi, Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens, Juice Robinson, Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr, Lance Archer, David Finlay, and El Phantasmo are this years entrants.
Tom Lawlor, JONAH, Aaron Henare, David Finlay & El Phantasmo are all in the tournament for the first time. Kazuchika Okada is the defending G1 Climax champion. Lance Archer is returning from AEW – their sole entrant in this years tournament. Out from the field last year are Kota Ibushi & Tanga Loa – both of whom are injured. More information will surely come on how this tournament will work with finals, which possibly could be a Fatal Four Way from the four top scorers.
The G1 Climax Needed Some Changes To Reduce Fatigue
This change and some fresh faces in the field will surely add some extra excitement to the G1 Climax this year. It’s a step in the right direction, and a great follow up to the action packed BOSJ tournament earlier this year. It’s a hard tournament to call, with a lot of potential winners in the mix.
More details on the layout of the blocks will be coming soon on the upcoming New Japan Road events. The tournament kicks off on July 16th, and runs through August 18th. Who do you think will win this year? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
