After news broke about Jeff Hardy being arrested for roughly three times the legal limit (.08) of alcohol in system in Volusia County, Florida, more news has come out through various outlets.
PWInsider reported that Jeff was released on bail at 7:07 p.m. EST on $3500 bond, and more news followed as it was reported that under Florida law, Jeff could be facing up to five years in jail among other possible punishments.
He has a hearing on June 14, so more will come out as to what punishment he’ll face. Under Florida law, a third DUI offense within 10 years is considered a felony, and Jeff is facing a whole slew of punishments.
Possible outcomes
With Jeff reportedly appearing in court at 1:30 p.m. EST on June 14, he’ll be facing the following:
– Minimum 30 days in jail, but up to 5 years in prison.
– Up to 5 years of reporting probation.
– Minimum 10-year driver’s license revocation.
– Up to $5,000 in fines.
– 90-day impoundment or immobilization of all vehicles owned by the driver.
– Mandatory placement of an ignition interlock device upon all vehicles owned, used, or routinely operated by the convicted driver for not less than 2 years.
– 50 hours of community service.
– Completion of a 21 hour DUI Substance Abuse Course.
– Completion of a psychosocial evaluation to determine if Substance Abuse Treatment is required.
– Completion of any recommended substance abuse treatment.
How will this affect his AEW career?
Jeff’s lived a charmed life in many ways, but his demons continue to overtake him at times, as does horrible judgment at getting into a vehicle and driving when under the influence.
There’s a chance that this could mark the end of his AEW career as Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer said Warnermedia was told to stop all promotion involving Jeff immediately after his arrest on June 13.
AEW reportedly stopped promoting Jeff and the three way ladder match between the Hardy Boyz, The Young Bucks, and Jurassic Express for the AEW Tag Team Championship on June 15.
We’ll have to wait and see how this will affect his AEW career moving forward, but right now it looks like things are definitely in flux.
