Queen Elizabeth II has been blasted after reports indicated that she failed to allow Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to photograph her meeting with their daughter Lilibet.
Queen CONDEMNED For Denying Harry And Meghan Photos Of Her Meeting With Lilibet-‘To Deny This To Lili On Her First Birthday Just Seems Unnecessarily Mean-Spirited’
The couple had made their first visit together since their exit from the Royal family in 2020 only to receive a mixed response. The chorus of boos at the ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ was one thing, but having allegedly had a photographer turned down is another.
And this may have been entirely unnecessary on the basis that the pictures could have been taken on the condition that they were not released to the public.
After all, Harry and Meghan’s son Archie has had the pleasure of being photographed with the monarch. But the fact Lilibet was prevented from doing so did not sit well with Royal expert Christopher Andersen.
In his comments, he said: “To deny this to Lili on her first birthday just seems unnecessarily mean-spirited.”
The Queen could have overruled her handlers on this one issue, and of course she could have allowed the Sussexes to appear on the balcony with the rest of the family at some point during the Jubilee.”
Christopher’s comments do hold some weight. This would have gone a long way in trying to establish a reconciliation and show the British public a united front at a time when the country is more divided than ever due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic and resulting economic woes.
In addition, given that the Royal family has attempted to rehabilitate Prince Andrew behind the scenes, it was not a stretch for them to reciprocate this towards Harry and Meghan.
Christopher’s following comments confirmed as much: “This was a historic event and to exclude Harry and Meghan from the visual record just seems wrong.”
Now that the Jubilee is over, will we see Harry and Meghan grace the UK shores again? Time will tell. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
