Right now is hardly a great time for Matt & Jeff Hardy. The legendary tag team was in the mix within the stacked tag team division for one final run. However, poor performances from Jeff Hardy, and a disastrous DUI. Jeff is now barred from appearing in AEW until he completes rehab, and proves he can remain sober. This has left Matt Hardy alone on the roster.
Matt Hardy Will Try To Make Some Magic Happen
While speaking with Jon Alba on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt discussed what’s next for him in AEW without his brother. Matt Hardy would be quoted saying the following.
“As far as what I’m doing going forward, I’m sure I’ll be doing something in some capacity on AEW. I’m going to change it up a little bit, tweak things a little bit and we’ll try to make some magic happen. I look at it as a challenge, as an artist where there’s really no timetable on what is happening. I had a great conversation with Tony Khan, just talking with him a little bit. We’ll see.
We have a few weeks to work on stuff. I’m excited for it. I look at it as a challenge, as opposed to looking at everything as a setback. Obviously, it’s disappointing and heartbreaking that I’m not going to be teaming with my brother and we won’t have this last great run, but I am going to make the most out of whatever opportunity I’m given. I will be positive and optimistic as always.”
Since Jeff Hardy was arrested earlier this week, Matt Hardy has not been seen or mentioned on AEW TV. The ladder match that was originally set to contain Matt & Jeff would be won by The Young Bucks, with some sites reporting that they were never going to be in the match – with a mystery team beating them down before the match. This likely would have been Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs.
