Daniel Bryan took the moniker “The Planets Champion” during this last run as WWE Champion. He debuted a special version of the championship, which was made from 100% sustainable organic hemp and carved from a naturally-fallen oak. This was to replace the old leather belt during his time as champion. While it was only around for a few months until he lost to Kofi Kingston at Wrestlemania, it showed his dedication to the nickname he gave himself. He wants to take it to the next step, as revealed in a recent interview with mysanantonio.com.
Considering Daniel Bryan was a vegan until he gained a soy-intolerance, it is not shocking that it is not a character for Daniel to care about the environment. For his run as WWE Champion, he simply turned his personality up to obnoxious levels. He has taken steps to make his merchandise as eco-friendly as possible.

“I’m working with them about that, and the next Daniel Bryan shirts are going to be made out of recycled materials. And I think five plastic water bottles will be used for every shirt. So they’ll be made out of plastic water bottles and recycled materials and that, to me, is cool. That’s something that’s a good-guy thing that’s also kind of environmentally friendly. And I’m also trying to get it — and this is where we’re coming into a little bit of a holdup here — where for every shirt that somebody buys, I would like for a tree to be planted. They’re balking a little bit on that.” is what he had to say in regards to this in the above interview.
This is something you have never really heard about in wrestling before, but it makes perfect sense especially for someone like Daniel. Clothing made of recycled materials is not rare, and you wouldn’t know any better wearing it unless you read the tags. Then you add in wanting to have a tree planted for every shirt sold, and you see just how dedicated Daniel Bryan is to making a better future of the planet. Hopefully he can get approval to launch this campaign, as it could also make a lot of money for WWE as people love supporting anything that can help the world.
