Toni Storm will get her chance to claim the AEW Women’s World Championship this Sunday at Forbidden Door. Tonight, she gets a tune up match – as she faces Marina Shafir. Meanwhile, Shafir is coming out of a failed attempt at the title, having recently lost to Thunder Rosa. Should Shafir get the win here tonight, she could well sway Tony Khan into making the match at Forbidden Door a triple threat.
Toni Storm Outwrestles Marina Shafir
Nyla Rose was in the corner of Shafir for this match, as she was set to face the #1 ranked Toni Storm. Shafir would shoot for a single leg takedown, but Storm blocked into a takedown – before Shafir would hit the takedown. She’d quickly snatch the leg of Storm, before being blocked into a headlock.
Storm would nail the low dropkick, before taking the high kick across the chest. Storm was sent to the floor, before Rose hit a senton splash outside of the view of the referee. Back in the ring, Shafir would apply a sleeper hold – before moving into a German Suplex. Shafir would avoid the up kick of Storm, before a cross arm sleeper.
Storm would fight to her feet, before nailing some hard forearm smashes. A headbutt would land, before Storm was kicked from the ring. Shafir would hit some heavy blows, but took the German Suplex in the ring before the rushing hip attack. Storm would had her leg yanked by Rose, but was able to recover for a roll up – getting the win.
Rose & Shafir kept the fight coming to Storm. Thunder Rosa would make the save, and Storm would use the AEW Women’s World Championship as a weapon, before handing it back to the champion. However, will it remain hers on Sunday?
MAJOR Match Announced For Forbidden Door
Following this match, Sting & Darby Allin would accept the challenge of The Undisputed Elite, and they’re not coming alone. They’ve recruited Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi of NJPW, and will take on reDRagon & The Young Bucks. Meanwhile HOOK vs. The DKC, Andrade El Idolo vs. Rey Fenix, and Jeff Cobb vs. Cash Wheeler were all announced for Rampage!
