Right now, the wrestling world is still focused on the actions of Jeff Hardy. He would be arrested for yet another DUI, and AEW was forced to take quick action. This happened just days before Matt & Jeff Hardy were set to challenge for the AEW WOrld Tag Team Championships. Hardy was taken from TV, and Tony Khan has once again commented on this serious situation.
Tony Khan Is Glad No One Got Hurt, Feels Jeff Hardy & Jon Moxley Are Wildly Different Cases
Today, at a media call for AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door this Sunday, Khan further addressed Jeff Hardy’s situation and provided an update on the AEW star.
“I’m really glad nobody got hurt. But what Jeff did going out and driving is different from the other thing. And I just don’t like hearing them the two compared, if that makes sense. I feel like I’d be remiss if I didn’t give Jeff a lot of credit for now doing the right thing. And this is what we said — Jeff’s got to do the right thing if he wants to stay with AEW. Because it’s his last chance.
When asked about the online comparisons to Jon Moxley & Jeff Hardy both going to rehab while under contract with AEW, Tony Khan would respond with the following.
“It’s totally different. Jon didn’t put anybody at risk like that, he wasn’t out drinking and driving … So that’s why I didn’t like hearing it compared. But I will say Jeff is in treatment and doing better. I talked to Matt about it the other day, and we’ll be here and we’ll support him for what he needs. This is what he had to do; he had to go to treatment to get us to keep supporting him at this time. And we are.
Right now, Jeff Hardy is in a rehab program, while being suspended from AEW without pay. He can only return to the ring if he completes the program, and is able to remain sober following the program. AEW are taking this situation seriously from the look of things, and that might be just what Jeff Hardy needs at this stage of his career.
