One of the standouts for the WWE women’s division is Nia Jax. The former RAW Womens Champion has been out thanks to injury since Wrestlemania of last year. She suffered ACL tears in both knees, and was set to be out for about 9 months. Fans haven’t exactly been clamoring for her return to the ring, especially after the incident where she broke the nose of Becky Lynch during a brawl. Despite this, she has her fans. She is the only wrestler of her type in the division, a pure powerhouse, and could that give her an edge when she returns at the Royal Rumble?
Nia Jax Has Been Training For A Return
As of December 2019, Nia Jax has been reporting to the WWE Performance Center to prepare for an in-ring return. This lines up perfectly with the Royal Rumble, which is the perfect place for anyone to return. While Nia Jax is a controversial figure, her popularity will surge like anyones does after a return. Once she settles back into her role on either RAW or Smackdown it will die down, but who knows how far the wave of momentum could take her.
The Facebreaker vs. The Man
While there are much bigger matches they could do for Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania, there is a story to tell between her and Nia Jax. As mentioned previously, she would break the face of Becky Lynch prior to Survivor Series 2018, where Becky was set to face off against RAW Women’s Champion, Rhonda Rousey. Instead Charlotte Flair took her place. We still haven’t seen Rhonda & Becky in singles action, but alongside Charlotte they all main evented Wrestlemania in 2019. Becky would win and become Becky Two-Belts.
Things worked out for Becky Lynch, and they could tell a story of Nia having trained to be the perfect counter for her style. With her size, and proven physicality, they could build her up as a monster threat for Becky Lynch to take down. This is a time honored story for WWE to tell, where they build up a monster for the hero to knock them down. We have never really seen it in the women’s division, and this could be the time to see that.
