Lance Archer really came into his own as a singles star in the 2019 G1 Climax, where he won over fans with some gutsy performances. During that tournament, he would defeat Bad Luck Fale, who he kicks off his tournament against in 2022. They’re tied 1-1 in singles matches, with Fale claiming a win in the New Japan Cup in 2018. The winner tonight will gain the always important two points, and the tie-breaker in the victory.

Bad Luck Fale & Lance Archer Trade Heavy Blows

Fale would charge in with a shoulder tackle to start, before Archer went up and over in the corner. He’d be charged down with a shoulder tackle, before Fale would stomp him out. To the floor, Fale would rake the spine of Archer, before choking him with his braid. Archer would fight free and choke Fale in the ring.

Fale would be struck to the mat, and rolled to the floor. Throat chop would land, before Archer was thrown into the barricade. Fale grabbed some chairs, but referee Red Shoes Uno would take them away. Archer would hit some heavy strikes to the jaw, before being scooped up and slammed through the set up chairs on the floor.

In the ring, Archer got the crossbody splash, before going Old School with a rope walk… and getting crotched. Fale went to the middle rope, took a running knee strike and was lifted for the Black Out. Archer would be unable to hit the slam, but Fale would take a tumble to the floor before being wiped out with a cannonball senton. Fale would hit a clubbing blow, and Archer didn’t make the ring before the twenty count – and Fale wins via countout.

Hirooki Goto Hasn’t Beaten Naito In Years

Hirooki Goto & Tetsuya Naito are far from strangers to each other having wrestled over 200 matches together in their careers. They’re also no strangers to the G1 Climax. Both men are battle tested veterans, and in their nine singles matches – Goto won their first four matches, and Naito won their latest five. With Goto having not beaten Naito since 2016, he’s got a lot to prove here tonight. Kicking off a G1 by defeating Naito would set Goto up great in the C-Block – as Naito is a potential winner, making this an excellent tie-breaker.

Naito would get the waist lock applied, before Goto would take him down to the mat with a headlock. Goto would lose control, and would miss a jumping elbow drop. Naito would take a hip toss, and rolled out to the floor. He’d start to play the mind games, with Goto rushing in and being caught. Goto was tossed into the ring barricade, before missing a lariat and getting the ring post.

Naito would focus in on the arm of Goto, bending it around the barricade and off the ring post again. Goto would take some downward strikes, and was unable to get to his feet. Naito would take the spinning wheel kick in the corner, before a running bulldog for a two count.

Back elbow and leg nelson would shut Goto back down, before the slingshot kick in the corner. Superana would follow, with Goto crashing down to the mat. Spinebuster would follow, before Goto would grab the armbar out of nowhere. He’d move into the Koji Clutch – but Naito found the bottom rope.

    Tetsuya Naito Gets Dropped

Goto & Naito would trade forearms in the ring, before Naito hit some elbows to the arm of Goto. The downward elbow smashes would land, before Goto hit the discus lariat. Angle Slam from Goto would get a two count, and set up the Ushigoroshi.

GTR was set – but Naito blocked and nailed the Running Destino. Goto would kick out at two, and used the corner to set up and nail the one man variant of Shoto. Both men would struggle to their feet, with Goto nailing a big mid kick and the Ushigoroshi setup for a slam – getting a two count.

Destino would blocked into Shoten-Kai, and GTR would land for the finish. Goto gets the two points, and breaks his losing streak against Naito! Can Goto reach the finals? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
