Having the biggest platform in the world, being the most popular podcaster globally, and being a public figure, Joe Rogan must be aware of what he is saying. However, he is not.
Months after the incident with the N-word, Joe Rogan enters the controversial waters once more. Now with an unusual ‘advise’ for the LA citizens. Now, when it became viral, most probably he will say he was ‘joking’ and he didn’t really mean it, and he will have countless explanations. But, he already said it.
Joe Rogan Attacked On The Internet After Joking About Killing Homeless People
Recently he had his friend and fellow comedian Tom Segura on his podcast. They spoke about various things, and eventually, the issue of the homeless people in LA became the topic. Joe and Tom then continue to whine and object to how the homeless people are ‘spread’ over public areas in LA.
They notice that usually, in the areas where these homeless people stay, they have their belongings with them as well. So the duo came to a conclusion that if anybody is to try to remove these possessions that can lead to a possible arrest. Joe Rogan’s response on the topic went viral and grossed out people around the world.
“They’ll arrest you. Hilarious. But, they wouldn’t arrest you if you shot somebody. Maybe you should just go shoot the homeless people.” – Joe says.
“I like your ideas.’ – his guest agreed with the opinion on how to solve the issue.
Yes, you read that right. He did say this. Without giving it a second thought, without thinking about how it sounds and what it means. Good job Joe, kudos for the proposed solution.
After the presentation of this ‘excellent’ solution to the problem, there is a whirlwind of comments on social media ‘trashing’ the podcaster for his way of thinking. While most of the comments describe this as ‘disgusting’, ‘repulsive’, ‘ignorant’, and ‘stupid’, Joe is nowhere to comment on it.
The advocate Theo Henderson stepped up and said that Joe’s comments might even lead to violence.
“It’s repulsive. It’s infuriating because it’s not only out of touch, but the reality is that unhoused people are targeted by housed people.” – he says in his publication. “To advocate trying to shoot at unhoused people or just giving these dog whistles to people that do not see unhoused people as human beings — I can’t believe you’d advocate for it.”
Andy Bales, the president of the LA’s Union Rescue Mission couldn’t stay silent on these comments. She fiercely attacked the podcaster and stated that the murders of homeless people are on the raise in any case over the past few years. And this could only add fuel to the started fire.
“I’m surprised and saddened. The comments about beginning to kill homeless people hit too close to reality for any comfort. Because murders of homeless people in Los Angeles went up 47% last year over the previous year…. There is a bit of unfortunate vigilantism already in Los Angeles towards people devastated by homelessness. And they don’t need any encouragement.” – The URM president says.
