At Great American Bash, JD McDonagh made his debut – putting NXT Champion Bron Breakker through the table after his title defence against Cameron Grimes. He’d be able to shut down Grimes in his debut on the brand – but never had a chance to really introduce himself.
JD McDonah Comes Face To Face With Bron Breakker, New NXT Women’s Champions To Be Named Next Week
JD McDonagh would buy a ticket to the show tonight, and would formally introduce himself to the NXT universe. He’d say to one fan eating popcorn that one wrong breath there could kill him. JD moved onto the timekeeper, saying he’s got an important job – and that hammer count crush a hand with ease, so swing carefully. He’d reach Alicia Taylor, and just said her voice is fabulous. Wade Barrett was a hero of JD’s, but all those years of bare knuckle fighting has made his hands weak.
He’d get to Vic Joesph, who he would apply pressure too, after he’d be bold enough to insult the family of JD. Finally, JD hit the ring- and called for Bron Breakker to come meet him. Breakker would march down to the ring, and he’d quickly set the main event of Heatwave, saying he will defend against JD there. He’d absorb a heatbutt and come back twice as hard, leaving JD with a bleeding mouth – and a smile.
Following this, we’d catch up with Roxanne Perez. She was left without a tag team partner as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, thanks to Cora Jade trashing the belt. She would get some help from WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze – who famously threw the WWF Women’s Championship in the trash on WCW TV, to take the belt from the trash. The belts are now vacant, and next week we get a fatal four way match to name new champions.
Andre Chase Pushes Giovanni Vinci To His Limits
Giovanni Vinci has made some enemies in a short time on NXT 2.0, including Chase U. They just wanted a look at his car, but then Thea Hail would touch it? Vinci lost his mind. Tonight, Andre Chase hits the ring to take on Vinci – and has a special guest in the crowd tonight, as Nathan Frazer is back from injury.
Vinci would throw Chase around to start the match, before applying a side headlock. Some driving blows would follow, with Vinci in complete control. Chase would get a sunset flip for two, before a cradle for another two. These flash pins would fail to get Chase far, and a dropkick to the jaw would leave him rocked. Vinci would break the flag of Chase U, before Chase threw him into the corner post.
After a commercial break, Vinci remained in control – but Chase almost got the flash pin. Vinci got distracted and hit with a backdrop, before taking some jabs and a manhattan drop. Russian Leg Sweep would land, before the neckbreaker. Chase U stomp would have the crowd chanting in unison, but The Final Exam would be blocked.
Vinci would catch a diving Chase into a brainbuster for the two count, before taking a Tiger Driver for a two count. Chase would look for the Fratliner, but would be taken up and down with the powerbomb for the end of the match instead.
