Mike, for his part, recently showed that he still had what it took to get in the ring when he undertook an exhibition boxing match with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.
Not only that, but Mike was also involved with an altercation with a fan on a plane this year, in which the boxer was seen punching a passenger.
And yet, in the clip here, we can see a man who looked far from someone capable of those things mentioned previously.Mike can be seen walking from his car to a hotel room with a stick. He looks to be in discomfort, as he limps his way inside.
Despite the worry that originated, it appears that things are not too serious. A source told TMZ the following: “He’s dealing with a sciatica flare-up. Nothing serious. Just an occupational hazard for an athlete like Mike.”
Nevertheless, it is important to take those comments with a pinch of salt for the following reasons. First of all, Mike did have a brutal boxing career.
By competing in the heavyweight division, there was always the chance that he may have damaged his body later down the line through the accumulation of punches that he received through his career.
Secondly, prior to his citing, Mike made some comments on his state that did not sound too positive. In some comments on his ‘Hotboxin’ podcast, he remarked: “My expiration date is coming close, really soon.”
The fans on social media came out to express their sadness. They recognised that time catches up with everyone, but hoped he could pull through. One person wrote: “That stuff happens when you get up in years.. I feel you Mike.”
