That is according to royal author Tom Bower. It is no secret that Meghan and her father are not on the best of terms. He was not present at her wedding with Prince Harry following claims that he had been speaking to the press in the run up to her wedding.
Not only that, but during his recent hospitalisation with a stroke, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle denied reports that Meghan had reached out to her father. With that being said, Thomas did not see his daughter in high regard.
In an interview on the Palace Confidential on Mailplus show, Tom said: “Thomas Markle told me that he knew the people at the wedding better than Meghan because he had filmed with them all at ABC and other studios.”
Thomas, for his part, happened to be a former lighting director and director of photography. It is not exactly clear who he had come across during his career, but Meghan did have some massive names present at her wedding.
This included Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney. And by being in the presence of such big names, it was Meghan’s intention to use this to build up her profile. That is according to Tom at least.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Meghan didn’t know Oprah at all. She’s met her once for a few minutes. She didn’t know George Clooney, that was passing once they’d met.
“It was all for her future. She used the wedding to build up her career for when she returned to Hollywood.” The fans on social media, though, had a mixed response.
While people recognised that Meghan’s profile did get a boost, others argued that she had forged a career in her own right. One person wrote: “Coming from a grifter such as Thomas.
