We’re just a few short months away from the release of the big budget AEW console video game. Developed by industry veterans at Yukes, the game is looking like the modern version of WWF No Mercy that fans have been clamouring for. Now, after a recent trailer and interview with Kenny Omega – we have more information on what to expect from this game.
AEW Is Working With THQ Nordic To Publish This Game
The first new big of detail is who will be publishing this game. While Yukes is handling development, AEW has linked up with THQ Nordic for the release of the game. This news also came with the announcement of what consoles will be supported, with Playstation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series S/X, PC, and Nintendo Switch versions all in development.
For the best performance, a high end gaming PC or the PS5/Series X will be needed, while the Nintendo Switch version isn’t expected to be quite as impressive – but will be on a portable console, allowing you to take it anywhere. THQ Nordic have published many games over the years, and should ensure this game has a smooth launch. A release date is yet to be announced at this time.
Hearing From Kenny Omega & Reinhard Pollice
In the press release announcing the deal with THQ Nordic – we’d hear from Kenny Omega, who has been one of the creative minds behind the games. He’d be quoted with the following statement.
“One of the first things I did after signing with AEW was to ask Tony Khan to let me help assemble the best gaming team on the planet, to make the best wrestling game ever. Well, we just landed the perfect finisher by partnering with global publishing and distribution powerhouse THQ Nordic for AEW: Fight Forever. The THQ brand has long been synonymous with wrestling games – there is simply no more qualified partner to bring AEW: Fight Forever to the millions of wrestling fans the world over.”
We’d also hear from Reinhard Pollice, executive producer at THQ Nordic.
“Kenny’s incredible vision for AEW: Fight Forever is informed by his wrestling pedigree both inside the ring and on the controller. Combine that vision with YUKES’ unparalleled wrestling game development history is resulting in an AEW experience that draws heavily on the arcade feel that first won wrestling gamer hearts more than two decades ago.”
At the time of writing, THQ Man’s return to wrestling video games remains unannounced. Are you excited for AEW Fight Forever? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
