Back in January, KENTA would provoke Hiroshi Tanahashi into a No Holds Barred match over the IWGP United States Championship. Tanahashi would put KENTA on the shelf for months to come, after a violent performance from Tanahashi. KENTA was able to make it back in the ring for the G1 Climax, and is in the same block as Tanahashi. Tonight, he will look for revenge for the months he missed thanks to Tanahashi – and look to ruin his chances of making the finals.
KENTA Goes After The Ribs Of Tanahashi
KENTA would quickly get into mindgames against Tanahashi to begin, going in and out of the ring – before battering him with some heavy strikes. Rear chinlock would be applied, but Tanahashi fought free. KENTA was driven into the corner, and Tanahashi would hit the springboard crossbody.
Tanahashi would play some air-guitar, before this one spilled to the outside. KENTA would hit the DDT on the floor, before driving him into the barricade. Tanahashi hit the barricade so hard that it took a light out. Back in the ring, KENTA would target the midsection with a body scissor hold – focusing on the ribs of Tanahashi tonight.
A rope break would allow Tanahashi to get free, before he’d be taken right back down to the mat for the body scissor. Hurt ribs might remove the High Fly Flow from the arsenal of Tanahashi tonight, but Tanahashi would counter out by going after the leg of KENTA.
KENTA would hit some kicks once they were vertical again, before being caught with the Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Scoop Slam and Somersault Senton would follow, before KENTA would hit the snap powerslam. KENTA would hit the tornado hotshot, before the diving lariat.
Hiroshi Tanahashi Gets Put To Sleep
Tanahashi & KENTA would throw strikes in the middle of the ring, with Red Shoes Uno being rocked by the Open Hand Swat, the move that caused Hirooki Goto to bleed from his mouth recently. KENTA would go under the ring and get the crutch that held him up after the injuries suffered by Tanahashi, and would beat Tanahashi in the ring.
On the floor, Tanahashi would be hit with a DDT – before KENTA grabbed a table. He’s keen on making Tanahashi miss eight months of his career, perhaps putting him through it with his own version of a High Fly Flow. Tanahashi was put onto the table, and KENTA went to the top rope, but Tanahashi found his way to this feet.
A superplex through the table was set, but KENTA fought free and simply hit the Green Killer in the ring. Double stomp would crush Tanahashi, yet would somehow kick out… sending KENTA right into Red Shoes. KENTA would hit Tanahashi in the head with the table, but Go To Sleep would still be blocked into the Twist & Shout Neckbreaker.
KENTA would look for Go To Sleep a second time, but was blocked with a Slingblade. Tanahashi hit the ropes for a second, going right into the pinfall. He’d head up top, and was able to hit Ace’s High. High Fly Flow was blocked, and KENTA would rush in with Busaiku Knee.
KENTA would batter Tanahashi with open palm strikes, potentially knocking The Ace out. A straight knee to the face would set up the Go To Sleep – and KENTA gets his revenge, eight months in the making.
