Right now, Austin Theory is in a weird spot on the WWE roster. Having been pushed as the golden boy of Vince McMahon, that was obviously up in the air after Vince would retire from WWE, both on-screen as a character, and behind the scenes. Theory still holds the Money In The Bank briefcase, and would well claim gold in this weekend after Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre – but his mind has been put on his past in The Way.
Austin Theory Says The Way Felt Like A Family
During his time as part of the NXT roster, Theory would find himself working alongside Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Indi Hartwell, and Dexter Lumis. With this group potentially reforming in some shape with Lumis brought back to the company and Hartwell set for a call up, Theory would reflect on this stage of his career on the Under The Ring podcast.
“We literally all showed up every time we had something to do and it was just a great time. It was just kind of like a collaboration on just everything … We kind of just really did feel like a family, you know?”
Speaking About Johnny Gargano After The Superkick Felt Around The World
Another member of The Way who was brought back to the company is Johnny Gargano. While he was seemingly set to align with Theory, instead he’d kick Theory in the face as Theory looked for a classic ‘no look high five’ with his previous mentor. On the topic of Gargano, Theory had the following to say.
“Somebody who, you know, you thought stood next to you, somebody you thought would support you, you know, after everything you did for them, and to literally manipulate me with something we did as, pretty much as father and son would, the no-look high five, and then he faked me out and kicked me right in the face. He’s pretty much already written the way his Monday Night Raw journey is going to go … it’s not going to be at my expense.”
