There are a lot of bright stars in the making down in NXT. While the bigger names get to shine on TV, the next generation are honing their craft and getting ready to make an impact. One of these future stars was Taynara Conti. Conti signed with WWE back in 2016 after being part of the inaugural Mae Young Classic.
Since then, she has been a fixture of NXT Live Events around Florida, and whenever she had shown up on TV you would see her improving. Her last televised match was on the Christmas episode of NXT, losing a singles match to Candice LeRae, and that will likely be the last fans will see of her as she has reportedly left the company.
Why Is Taynara Conti Leaving NXT?
While she is reportedly still under contract, there was a disagreement involving her in the middle of January. The cause of the dispute is not currently known, though the original report from Fightful has speculated that the issue is related to money. An undercard NXT talent like herself likely wasn’t making much, which could have sparked this dispute. She has denied she as walked out of the company on Twitter, but there is no explanation as to why she has been not seen on any NXT shows since mid-January. Wrestlers will rarely come clean on social media while still under a contract, or during contract negotiations.
Her Potential Outside Of WWE
While her four years in WWE have been rather uneventful, that is still four years at one of the peak training facilities in the industry. She entered WWE with a a black belt in judo and a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and was able to take the time to tie those abilities into a professional wrestling style. Any promotion with a lacking women’s division, like Ring of Honor or the National Wrestling Alliance, could make excellent use of her.
The main issue in NXT was there was just bigger names at higher skill levels filling any role someone like Conti could have been placed into otherwise. Had she stuck it out, she would have eventually gotten her starring role, but that doesn’t seem to be the path she will be taking. She refused to be a part of the Battle Royale on the January 15th episode of NXT, and hasn’t been seen on TV or live events since that date.
