Over his legendary career, Sheamus has just about done it all. He’s been WWE & World Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, United States Champion, and has won Money in the Bank, the Royal Rumble, and King of the Ring. All that’s missing from his trophy case is the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
He’d win a Fatal Five way match to put him on the right track, and tonight in Cardiff – we are going to get a fight. The WWE Intercontinental Championship is held by GUNTHER, who is one of the hardest hitters in all of professional wrestling. Sheamus is more than willing to match that power and aggression here tonight, and we could have one of the hardest hitting fights in WWE history here.
Imperium Is Back As Giovanni Vinci Rejoins GUNTHER /h3>
During the ring introduction for GUNTHER, Giovanni Vinci was back with Imperium – putting them to full power. Sheamus was backed up by Butch & Ridge Holland, and Kaiser & Vinci would brawl it out with them as Sheamus & GUNTHER stared daggers in the middle of the ring. The bell rang, and the bombs started flying.
GUNTHER would get Sheamus in the corner with some forearm smashes, before Sheamus fought out – before those renowned chops started to land. A boot to the head would drop Sheamus, before he’d come back with a suplex. Sheamus would kick GUNTHER to the apron to look for Ten Beats Of The Bodhran, but the champion would slip free.
Sheamus would use the steel steps as a weapon, but was unable to remain in control. The chest of Sheamus was getting red as chops would land, with one sending him off the top rope and tumbling down to the floor. GUNTHER drove Sheamus into the steel steps, and nearly got the count out victory.
Sheamus would take the chops of GUNTHER while on the mat, before a boot to the side of the face. The ankle of Sheamus would be caught, and GUNTHER would look to turn Sheamus over into the boston crab in the middle of the ring. He’d move into a crossface as Sheamus neared the ropes, before a chop across the shoulder blades.
Putting Respect Back On The WWE Intercontinental Championship
Sheamus would fire back with some chops of his own, but was levelled with one from GUNTHER. It was complete domination from GUNTHER, before Sheamus blocked a chop and would be driven into the corner and thrown to the floor. Scoop slam on the floor, would be followed by Sheamus being thrown over the announce table.
Sheamus would get the Beats Of The Bodhran over the announce table, before a lariat in the ring. He’d get all Ten over the ropes, and some more on the outside over the barricade. King Kong Knee Drop in the ring would land, and Sheamus had victory in sight. White Noise was set up, but GUNTHER slipped free and hit a German Suplex.
Sheamus rolled to his feet and hit the running knee strike to the jaw, but was only able to get a two count. GUNTHER would apply a tight sleeper hold in the middle of the ring, and Sheamus was starting to fade. He’d be able to hit White Noise all the same – but the tired cover only brought a two count.
Sheamus would set up the Brogue Kick, but GUNTHER was able to side step and hit the wrecking ball dropkick and powerbomb. This somehow was only a near fall, and GUNTHER would stomp the back of Sheamus to set up the diving splash. Sheamus would catch GUNTHER on the top rope with some strikes, and bring him down the Celtic Cross – which somehow didn’t end this match.
Brogue Kick would be attempted, but the back gave out – and GUNTHER responded with a snap powerbomb. Massive lariat from GUNTHER would follow, and he remains the champion.
