In WWE, there have been many obnoxious jerks on RAW, SmackDown, and other shows. However, The Big Boss Man perfected the art of being a jerk with two acts of peak anti-social behavior during WWE’s Attitude Era.
Before we get into the two despicable acts, we have to mention that when he first appeared in the company in 1988 as a corrupt prison guard, he had a post-match ritual of handcuffing opponents to the ropes and beating them.
You couldn’t even say that it was for good measure since his opponent was usually in no shape to defend himself. This wasn’t even adding insult to injury, it was just a beating for general purposes. It was similar to The Undertaker spanking someone and making them a pack after putting them in a body bag.
Big Boss Man Feeds Al Snow His Dog
In late 1999, Boss Man feuded with Al Snow over the Hardcore title. The two had several battles which varied in quality but were always eventful. When Snow began coming out with his dog Pepper, the pooch became a target for Boss Man.
This escalated in BBM kidnapping Pepper to force a meeting in his hotel room. Yeah, the Attitude Era was…weird at times. He would offer Snow some dinner but in a rib where Mr. Fuji took a severe neighbor’s dog and fed it to him, the Big Boss Man fed Pepper to Al Snow!
This would lead to the maligned Kennel from Hell match at Unforgiven 1999.
At the time, it was just vile. It was like “What? You fed him his dog? On television?” It was all over the Hardcore title too! I’d say that would be a little extreme for the World title but we’ve seen some extreme stuff throughout the Attitude Era.
Speaking of something a little extreme for the World title…
Boss Man Drags the Coffin of Big Show’s Recently Deceased Father
During the early Ruthless Aggression Era, BBM had one final big story. The Big Show was WWE Champion as 1999 was coming to a close and he had a strong contender in The Rock who was spoiling to get his title back.
Somehow, the Big Boss Man—who had just lost the Kennel match a few months prior—was picked as a possible opponent and the story was developed towards that goal.
Mind you, he did what he did best and bullied the biggest man in the company. Like Boss Man was being particularly severe in his feud against him.
It would even escalate into him popping up at the future for Big Show’s father and talking some sh** to the champion and family about how Pops Wight was dead and not coming back.
The asshole even attempted to dirty mack on the widowed Wight! At the funeral!
He would then chain the coffin to the back of his car—an old-school battered 80s Crown Vic with the bullhorn on the roof–and rode off. Big Show attempted to stop him but ended up falling off and taking a Chris Farley-like bump in the process.
It’s number one on my list of WWE segments and a landmark in assholery in the company.
