From day one of AEW, one of their biggest stars has been Chris Jericho. Being the first man to hold the AEW World Championship alone shows the trust that AEW had in the legend, and he’s paid that back with loyalty. Jericho is a locker room leader for the ages, and someone who will always go to bat for AEW & Tony Khan at this point – despite spending a bulk of his career in WWE. Having been around from the start in 2019, he’s seen the good and bad of AEW, but feels the good outweighs that bad easily.
Chris Jericho Knew AEW Would Always Have Growing Pains, But Have Done More Things Right Than Wrong
While speaking on the Inside The Ropes podcast, Jericho would have a chance to talk about his overall experiences as part of AEW. He feels that over the past three years, they’ve done a lot more things right than wrong. Jericho would be quoted saying the following.
“We’ve been doing this for three years now and continuing to grow, and this is a big-time corporate business. We are run and paid for by a giant television corporation. So, there’s always gonna be growing pains when you start a company. I think we’ve done nine things right and maybe one thing wrong or two things wrong. So we learn from that and we continue to build our brand and continue to improve.”
Jericho Feels AEW Will Still Be Around In 47 Years
As for how long AEW will last, Chris Jericho has no reason to believe that AEW has a chance to last as long as WWE has. When asked how he feels AEW will fare in the long run – Jericho would be quoted saying the following.
”WWE has a lot of fans, but they’ve also been around for 50 years. Give us another 47 years to see where we’re at. I guarantee we’ll still be here.”
Right now, Chris Jericho is set for a second match with Bryan Danielson after a win at All Out 2022. This match is part of a tournament to crown a new AEW World Champion, after previous champion CM Punk would suffer a torn tricep.
