Oprah Winfrey wants nothing more than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to reconcile with the Royal Family amid the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Oprah Winfrey Wants Harry And Meghan To Reunite With The Royals Despite Initially Helping To Damage Relations With Her Interview
The Sussexes just so happened to walk alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton, as they all paid their respects to the late monarch at Windsor.
Although that may have been the case, it is not exactly clear if this was merely done in order to show a sign of unity to the public, or if this was a genuine reconciliation.
But in any event, Oprah was adamant that the period of mourning could provide an opportunity for the family to reunite.
In an interview with Extra, she said: “This is what I think, I think in all families — you know, my father passed recently, this summer — and when all families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s an opportunity for peacemaking. Hopefully, there will be that.”
Nevertheless, it was Oprah who had inadvertently played a part in damaging the relations. She was ultimately part of the couple’s controversial interview which coincided with the deterioration of the late Prince Philip’s health.
Not only that, but since the interview revealed many bombshells such as allegations that someone in the Royal Family had reservations about Archie’s skin colour as well as Meghan having suicidal thoughts, it did do a lot of damage.
The fans on social media did not have a positive view of Oprah. A certain subset of people were of the view that she was trying to remain relevant. Meanwhile, others criticised her approach to the interview with the couple.
One person wrote: “Hummm she knows her dear couple lost. Without the RF it’s over. Oprah is responsible too to let them lied on her show. She knew.”
Time will tell if the Sussexes manage to end up on good terms with everyone. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
