Meghan Markle reportedly complained about not being paid for her royal engagements during a royal tour in 2018.
Meghan MONEY Markle Demanded MONEY For Her Royal Engagement-Says Royal Author Valentine Low
According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex was traveling around Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand for 16 days. And as part of that process, she allegedly had 76 engagements with her husband, Prince Harry.
While that is part and parcel of being a member of the firm, the fact of the matter is that Meghan apparently did not take that too well since it was not recompensed.
Royal author Valentine Low in his book entitled, ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, had this to say: “Although she enjoyed the attention, Meghan failed to understand the point of all those walkabouts.
“[An unnamed member of staff heard her saying], I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this.” If those comments are taken to be true, then they are very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, other royal experts have had a similar sentiment when it comes to Meghan. Angela Levin has been very vocal about Meghan’s failure to understand the difference between ambition and a sense of duty within the firm.
As such, duty had to come at the expense of one’s ambition. Secondly, it reinforces the notion that Meghan has been using the royal title for her own sake in order to generate lucrative deals. The deals with Spotify and Netflix are arguably indicative of that.
The fans on social media had a mixed response. A certain subset of people felt Meghan was being hard done by since she was a millionaire prior to entering the firm.
Meanwhile, others were of the view that she had been riding off the royal name as without Harry, her name would not have been as big. One person wrote: “We all know she married with Harry for the royal status and global fame.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
