That is the view of royal author Robert Jobson. This claim centres around the fact that the network is set to air the 5th season of The Crown.
The show is expected to focus on the breakdown in marriage between King Charles III and his then wife the late Princess Diana.
And given that Charles has just taken over the throne following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, coupled with the fact that the Sussexes have their own deal with Netflix for their docuseries, the couple have been urged to drop their project.
In his comments, Robert said: “How can Harry & Meghan carry on with this Netflix deal…It will cause untold damage to our King and Queen Consort around the world early in his reign.
“Are H & M really that hard up ? Come of ‘H’ show some loyalty to your country.” Nevertheless, those comments should be taken with a pinch of salt for the following reasons.
First of all, even if the Sussexes were to drop this deal, the fact of the matter is that the Crown would go ahead anyway. Therefore, it would do nothing to prevent the show from revealing what it would do.
Secondly, since the Sussexes are no longer a part of the firm, they ultimately have to forge a life of Independence. And their conduct has shown that lucrative deals with Spotify, as well as Netflix, is the norm.
Lastly, in any event, King Charles III made it very clear in his first speech to the nation that he wished the Sussexes the best with their lives ‘overseas.’ With that being said, the couple have been given a clear indication that their future lies outside of the firm.
