Coming out of All Out, the two biggest stories in AEW had very little to do with what happened on the PPV. While the bulk of the attention was on the backstage fight between CM Punk & The Elite, but the situation surrounding the AEW status of Malakai Black. Following his match alongside House Of Black, he would take a bow on the stage for the fans in attendance. This would be followed up with a report of him being released from his AEW contract, despite having signed a five year deal. However, Black is now clearing up the records.
Malakai Black Is Sticking Around In AEW, Will Be Back When Ready
Malakai Black would officially set the record straight during an Instagram Live. During this stream, he would take aim at reporters who took shots at his mental health based on nothing but rumours. He would confirm that he is still under contract for AEW as well, and claims that he will return to the ring fairly soon. Black would be quoted saying the following about his status in AEW.
”Anyway, I will see you guys in a couple weeks, maybe a couple of months, like I said, I’m only taking some time off. That’s it. Just taking time off. There’s no conspiracy to this. Just taking some time off.”
This comes after there were rumours of Black returning to WWE, with Triple H trying to lure former NXT performers back. That rumour was also killed, and Tony Khan has reportedly refused to release anyone at this time – with performers given the option of working shows, or sitting out their contracts. Khan putting his foot down was a crucial moment, given the influence Triple H has in the wrestling world at the present moment.
Right now, both Buddy Matthews & Malakai Black are taking time off, leaving just Brody King & Julia Hart to wave the banner of House of Black, but Brody King has made it clear that he isn’t going anywhere.
