Prince Harry has been warned that his upcoming tell-all memoir is a very dangerous move.
Prince Harry Warned His Memoir Is A ‘Dangerous Project’-Says Janet Street-Porter
That is the view of journalist Janet Street-Porter. Reports indicate that the Duke of Sussex is making immediate changes to the memoir in light of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
This firmly indicates that any chances of Harry calling off the book are unlikely since he does have a lucrative contract to fulfil.
With that being said, Harry has to try to find a balance between giving the publishers what they want, as well as not burning any other bridges. And that is a task that could prove very problematic for him.
In her comments, Janet said: “It’s a very dangerous project because his granny has died, his grandfather has died in the last year, and his father has lost both parents in the last year.
“His father has a new job, his brother has also been promoted and with that comes an enormous amount of responsibility.” One way that Harry could minimize the damage is to give the royals a manuscript of what he is going to release.
This would give the firm an opportunity to reply to anything that is disclosed. However, in doing so, this would go against the mantra that Harry had set for the book. That was to give an unfiltered account since he was no longer at the behest of the royals.
In some prior comments at the time, Harry stated: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story.
“I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.” Time will tell how damaging the memoir could end up being even in light of Harry’s potential changes.
