Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had secretly gotten engaged months before an official announcement was made.
Harry And Meghan Got Secretly Engaged-Says Royal Author Valentine Low
That is according to royal author Valentine Low in his book entitled, ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown.’ The couple came across each other in 2016, as their engagement was announced a year later after just over one year of dating.
And yet, the book claims that the duo got engaged four months before the announcement was given. That would mean that the Sussexes had been dating for less than a year, which would make things fast indeed.
In his comments, Valentine said: “The couple were not officially engaged – though everyone in Kensington Palace knew they had been privately engaged since the late summer.
“But this was Meghan putting herself out there in a confident, pro-active way.” Those comments are quite significant for the following reasons.
First of all, it would back up other reports that have suggested that Prince William had doubts about Harry committing to Meghan on the basis that things were moving very fast.
This may explain why there was a reported rift between the brothers over this. Secondly, it also shows that the couple were looking to avoid as much media scrutiny as possible by keeping their relationship in the background.
Lastly, in any event, it contradicts the official statement that was put out at the time of the engagement which stated: “His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month.
“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family.” The fans on social media were harsh towards this prospect.
A certain subset bashed the pair over the fact that their relationship continued to throw up new dynamics. One person wrote: “Who actually gives a sh**.”
In reality, only the couple know how the engagement went down. And as long as they were happy, that is the most important thing. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
