Ahmaud Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, has bashed Kanye West’s comments that the BLM movement is a scam.

Kanye West caused a major stir after he came out to brand the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement a ‘scam.’ This comment arrived on the back end of the rapper wearing a top with the words ‘White Lives Matter.’
And as part of that process, Kanye was joined by political commentator Candace Owens. In the picture here, we can see the two wearing those tops. Candace has a massive smile on her face and could not look any happier as they were at Paris Fashion Week.
This naturally generated a lot of controversy for the following reasons. First of all, there is a source of support for the BLM. A certain subset of people see it as a way to tackle police brutality, which has been a source of contention in the United States.
Secondly, others could not understand why Kanye would decide to do this since it was clear that this would have received a lot of backlash.
And yet, Kanye doubled down on his beliefs by referring to the whole movement as a sham. In a post to his fans on Instagram, Kanye stated: “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam now it’s over you’re welcome.”
With that being said, Wanda felt Kanye’s comments were against what he had told her when her son died in a racially-motivated attack.
In a statement on behalf of Wanda, her attorney Lee Merritt said: “It’s confusing for her, it’s confusing for the families to receive his support privately, but publicly to set us all back.”
It is not surprising, then, that the fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter. A certain subset of people bashed Kanye on the basis that he was doing this in order to generate extra publicity.
Meanwhile, others could not understand why Kanye would decide to wear that T-shirt even if what he believed was true. One person wrote: “I mean it was some bullshit but white lives matter shirt ain’t the move either.”
While another person stated: “We all know he is sick… no need to react at every shitpost. just ignore him.” It is fair to say that Kanye’s comments were very divisive indeed.
