FTR have been wanting chances to defend their many tag team championships, and after defending the IWGP Tag Team Championships against Aussie Open in the UK recently – they have someone ready to go for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. Representing The Embassy, Gates Of Agony are ready to fight and claim gold for their faction – after Brian Cage failed to claim the TNT Championship on AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday. Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona are imposing figures and will never back down from a fight, and FTR might be outmatched here tonight.
Gates Of Agony Cut The Ring In Half With Ease
The Gunn Club were front row for this match, mocking FTR in their latest attempt to get into their heads. Kaun & Harwood would kick this match off with a collar and elbow tie-up, with Kaun winning out in the corner – but allowing a clean break. Harwood would hit a set up uppercuts in the ring, before a snap neckbreaker.
Liona would try to cut into the ring, but FTR would send him back to the floor. Wheeler would get the blind tag from Harwood, but was run down by a lariat from Kaun. Liona would get into the ring with a powerslam, before a running headbutt. Shoulder claw would be applied, before Wheeler would fight free. A pinfall was attempted, but Liona would nail a hip drop to the chest.
Kaun would hit the running splash, before a spinning Belly to Belly Suplex from Liona got a two count. Wheeler would be thrown into the barricade on the floor, but was able to side step a spear – sending Liona crashing head first into the barricade. Kaun would pull Harwood off the apron before a tag, but was taken into an Inside Cradle for a two count.
Wheeler was hit with the Air Raid Crash – with Kaun continuing to cut the ring in half. Liona would ask if this is the great FTR they heard about as he choked Wheeler on the ropes, before hitting a headbutt. Kaun would slip back in and apply a front headlock, with his back to Harwood – allowing him to push Wheeler back into the Gates Of Agony corner.
Wheeler would fire up and take Kaun down before avoiding a splash from Liona. He’d make the long crawl, and would make the tag to Harwood who uncorked some right hands before being dropped with a Samoan Drop from Liona. FTR would work together to get a one count on Liona, with a crossbody and dropkick taking him off his feet.
A running crossbody from Liona would be ducked, before FTR hit a double draping DDT – calling back to a short lived trio in their WWE days. Kaun would be able to hit the Gutbuster on Wheeler, getting a two count. FTR would hit the Mindbreaker Piledriver, but Liona would yank Harwood off the pin – before being too big to be hit with Big Rig.
He’d block two attempts at the finisher, before being dropped with the third. Liona would be down, before Kaun would hit the ring. Prince Nana would run a distraction, before Kaun was thrown into his face. Backslide from Harwood – and this match was over, FTR retains!
After the bell, Gates of Agony & Brian Cage would beat down FTR – showing no honor after the bell. Wardlow would make the save, going three on one against The Embassy and even he can’t beat those odds. Samoa Joe would be out next, and he would be the Great Equaliser – dropping Liona & Kaun before sending Cage from the ring.
